This past summer I had an amazing opportunity to visit northern Manitoba. I’ve posted a gallery of polar bear photos from the trip.

Wetlands Sunrise
Early morning at the wildlife refuge. I used a split neutral density filter to balance the bright sky with the darker foreground. Photographed on July 11, 2009.
Tree Trunk Reflections
This is an image of tree trunks reflected in the surface of the river. The moving water adds blur for an abstract feel. Photographed on July 5, 2009.
Lily pads
I always love to see droplets of water floating on top of a lily pad. I included the other lily pads to give some depth to the image. Photographed on July 5, 2009.
Photos from Belize
I’ve organized my photos from the Belize trip and selected some of my favorites. Click here to go through a series of images from the trip, including captions describing each image.
Heliconia sp.
This beautiful flower is known as a lobster claw (Heliconia sp.). Photographed on April 15, 2009.
Colorful Beetle
I found this amazing beetle in Belize yesterday. I haven’t been able to identify it yet. Photographed on April 15, 2009.
Mayan Thunderstorm
We were treated to a thunderstorm on our first night in the jungle. The low hill in the foreground is actually an unexcavated Mayan building. Photographed on April 14, 2009.
Rio Frio Cave
We visited another cave today. This one was more of a very large tunnel that had been carved through a hillside by this river…it was open at both ends. Photographed on April 13, 2009.
The Underworld
Here we are about to exit an extensive cave in Belize, after paddling into it in canoes. The ancient Maya believed that such caves were the entrance to the underworld. Photographed on April 11, 2009.
